Tom is the Managing Director and Chief Operations Officer of Funds at Yunus Social Business (YSB) where he is responsible for guiding YSB’s global operations, including the translation of its global investment thesis into country specific investment priorities as well as non-financial support activities.
He has over 25 years of proven management, business and strategy development experience in various forms of financial services in the US and Sub-Saharan Africa ranging from retail banking to SME relationship management and to microfinance. Tom previously served as CEO of large MFIs in Tanzania and the Democratic Republic of Congo and later as Group Head of Microfinance and East Africa for a Botswana based financial service holding company responsible for creating and leading the group’s diversification strategy into the MSME business segment across an 11-country bank network. Tom has extensive corporate governance experience serving on boards of banks and regulated financial institutions in various jurisdictions and he is a member of the Institute of Directors.
